my BBQ hell
Yesterday, we had a BBQ on the roof terrace in the gaff, but it nearly didn't happen at all. First off, through some freak wind/lock-jamming incident, Jim Jim, Kev and Jane-O got locked in the sitting room with me and Laney on the other side of the door. Following a series of betwixted door screaming matches, trying to fit screwdrivers under the tiny gap and unscrewing the handle, I got frustrated and kicked it open.
Earlier, Laney and I had bought a BBQ which turned out to be the greatest heap of shit ever constructed. First we lit it and when it was FINALLY flaming, the whole bloody thing collapsed, leaving all of us extinguishing small and scattered fires. Then we had to rebuild it and it took AT LEAST two more hours to actually get going again and then another while to be hot enough to cook. SO ANNOYING. Please remind me in the future that BBQs are only fun when you're actually AT them, not in charge of them. Anyway, I'll be eating burgers for about a month because only a fraction of the food was eaten. All the beer was gone though. We had totally filled the bath with ice and bottles of beer, so bravo to everyone for managing to clear it.

Hotpress year book launch
Went to this on Tuesday night in the Sugar Club. Great laugh and brilliant music. Delorentos played three really cool songs, so I look forward to seeing them again live. Then Julie Feeney played some of her stuff which is equally awesome. Check out her album 13 Songs, which won the Choice Music Prize. Had a few drinks with her after and she is possibly the nicest person in the world. Then Republic of Loose wrecked the gaff, as they always do.
Anywhoo, in work now wanting the weekend. Going to Poland on Friday night for work. Hopefully it'll be fun.

this afternoon I...
- ate a banana
- sung very loudly to a Keane song on the radio
- went to talk to the Afghani hunger strikers who have barricaded themselves into St Patrick's Cathedral
- got a postcard from Carolyn in Jamaica
- had lunch with Lili
- met Elaine in the lift
- drank 7 cups of coffee
- listened to the new Tunng record
- left a message on my Mum's phone
- did Davina's 30 minute workout (lasted 10 minutes)
- cut out a picture of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs from Clash magazine
- some washing
- looked for a pen for ages until I realised there was one behind my ear
- read the Irish Times and the NUJ newsletter
- wondered why Pink Is The New Blog hasn't been updated since yesterday

la la la
On Thursday, we all went down to check the premier of a new short film for the RED Campaign in support of Corina who was the costume designer and stylist on the film. Yay! Free Corona and buddah bag lounging and fun. Yay Corina!
The me and Lili and Ian and Ted went to check out Si Shroeder in Crawdaddy. I was sleepy, so it wasn't the best music to listen to at that point - shoe-gazing guitar-driven electronica. A bit too lo-fi and precious for me.
Yesterday I was in London for work, which was fun until my flight got delayed last night because of an electrical storm in Dublin. Luckily, I met an old aquaintance Evan in the lounge, and she had met some bloke Alan, so we chilled, listen to music on my laptop and drank some beers which kept us occupied. So tired when I got in last night though. As a result of the late flight, I missed Take That. Flatmate Laney informed me this morning that it was AMAZING. So I am, obviously, extremely jealous.
Now I'm in work eating Krispy Kremes. And drinking coffee. Yum.
It's nearly my weekend !!!!!!! Might got to see Architecture in Helsinki tomorrow....

Dresden Dolls
I have been a nerd and have stayed in all week, but on Tuesday, I went to see the Dresden Dolls in the music centre with Sarah. What a fucking brilliant gig. They are so amazing. Probably one of the best drummers in the world, amazing aesthetics, unbelievably powerful voice, fantastic set and the crowd was totally up for it. Plus, they played Such Great Heights which was awesome.
