SAVE NIGHTCLUBS

From INIA:

"Nightclubs are facing the introduction of earlier closing times as part of the Government’s Liquor Licensing Bill 2008. This Bill, expected to be introduced before July 3rd 2008, will close every late night venue, nationwide, at 2.30am 6 nights a week, and at the earlier hour of 1am on Sundays. These will be the latest possible opening hours, with even earlier closing times in various counties / districts...

The nightclub industry opposes these proposals and is instead seeking :

- The introduction of a Nightclub Permit, to properly regulate the industry.
- The introduction of Sequential Closing [ pubs/late bars would close at a defined time, and nightclubs would close at a later defined time ] . This staggered closing approach, reduces the risks of public disorder that arises when all late night venues are emptied at the same time.
- Sunday closing times to be the same as every other night of the week.
- And to be allowed entertain our customers for a period after we have stopped serving alcohol."

it'd be great if common sense prevailed - the serving hours are a bit more strict over here in england and i still see people beat the living shit out of each other every week
pulling the serving times back an hour is even a shit version of lip service to a problem

First we're told how to vote and now how to drink - any guidance on breathing?

First a survey reveals that a huge number of people who voted no to Lisbon are closet xenophobes, and now nightclubs are going to die. Emigration is starting to sound mightily attractive
